Palm wax

Palm wax

Palm wax is a natural, biodegradable wax derived from the oil of palm berries. It has become a favourite in candle making for its unique aesthetic and eco-friendly profile, and is particularly prized for the crystalline finish it forms as it sets and for its clean burn. We supply RSPO-certified palm wax, fully segregated (SG) for traceability from origin.

Applications

  • Candle Making. The primary application. Palm wax is used for pillar, container and votive candles, valued for the crystalline surface pattern and clean burn.
  • Cosmetics. Used as a natural structuring wax in balms and creams where a plant-derived hardener is preferred.
  • Wax Melts. Its hardness and fragrance retention suit wax melts and tarts.
  • Polishes and Coatings. Applied as a natural component of polishes and protective coatings.
  • Sustainable Sourcing. Supplied RSPO-certified and fully segregated, for manufacturers who need traceable palm supply chains.

Characteristics

  • Crystalline finish. Its most distinctive feature is the "feathering" or "marbling" effect. As the wax cools it forms intricate crystal patterns on the surface, so every candle sets slightly differently.
  • Natural and biodegradable. Derived from palm berry oil, palm wax is plant-based and biodegradable, and is widely used as an alternative to paraffin wax.
  • Clean burn. Palm wax burns cleanly with little soot, and holds fragrance well in scented candle formats.
  • Hardness. It sets harder than soy wax, which helps pillar and container candles hold their shape at higher ambient temperatures.
  • Grade variation. Palm wax is supplied in different grades, with variation in melt point and crystal structure depending on processing and storage. Ask us for the data sheet on the grade you need.
